Responsibilities: Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data Develop data set processes for data modeling, mining and production Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures Create custom software components (e.g. specialized UDFs) and analytics applications Install and update disaster recovery procedures Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality Actively help shaping our engineering culture Your profile: BSc or MSc in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field Tenacious, investigative, and curious personality Real passion for collaboration and strong interpersonal skills SQL-based technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL and MySQL) MatLab, SAS, R Experience with different data warehousing solutions Experience with functional, imperative and object- oriented languages; knowledge of Ruby, Python and/or Elixir would be especially useful Strong grasp of database structure, design, query languages (e.g. SQL) Being technology/language agnostic, willingness to use different languages Business-fluent in English and German (orally and in writing). Valid working permission for the EU or Switzerland
