Your tasks/profile: We are looking for a competent and experienced data and informatics specialist to help us transform our data into the foundation for digital science and innovation. Reporting into the Data Strategy and Data Assets group in TDI, you are the go-to person for all things data engineering. You partner closely with data generators, scientific experts, data scientists and IT to make sure our data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable, as well as timely, robust, trustworthy and compliant. You work along the end-to-end data flows and lifecycle, from generation/acquisition to use and re-use, to enable and promote effective access, preparation and exploitation of our data; moreover, you capture usage requirements, profile data and assess data lineage, maturity, risks and complexity. Finally you create, document and share prototype and production-grade data ETL/ELT pipelines leading to holistic, integrated data assets and data products for further exploration and exploitation. You should have up-to-date expertise in data and information management with a strong focus on informatics, data wrangling and engineering, and related data management concepts. You are a doer with extensive experience applying data wrangling and engineering principles to deliver impactful, analytics-ready data assets. You enjoy working in complex, matrix environments doing hands-on work as the situation requires. You are proficient in the use of diverse database and compute technologies and platforms (cloud and on-prem), as well as handling structured and unstructured data. Ideally, you have a good understanding of scientific R&D processes and the associated data and informatics landscape, such us chemo- and bioinformatics. You are likely to have a Masters’ degree or equivalent in STEM or data/informatics-related field, in combination with relevant practical experience in data wrangling, data engineering, analytics or research preferably in multinational science-based organisations. Superb communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team are essential.
